Though the cast is dominated by Joseph Cotten and Alida Valli (both already seen in The Third Man), it's less a noir than a noirish melodrama, whose final part is rather unconvincing. It's nevertheless a classy little movie, mainly because of its very classy leads. C'est plus un sombre mélo qu'un film noir, ce film de Robert Stevenson, et qui tient debout par l'excellence de ses deux premiers rôles, Joseph Cotten et Alida Valli, déjà associés dans Le troisième homme de Carol Reed. Pour nos plaisirs coupables, retenons encore une scène de petit aéroport avec son Douglas : et une splendide maquette de Constellation : … qui devraient ravir sixcyl et IMPDb.org. Your attention please! The film was released in 1950 but shot in 1948 (being shelved for two years, I still wonder why).
