Filmweb.pl entry God knows how to qualify those bikes. Aren't they all made acc. to the same specification? Never been Speedway fan, followed a bit only one season - 17 years ago. |

I think speedway bikes are mostly one-off and custom-built, although most use the same engine in any given period as the designs are closely controlled to give parity of performance. I did follow it myself for a while in the 1970s. Of course my city of Christchurch NZ has produced three world champions. Speedway is (or was) very strong in Eastern Europe and riders from there often visted NZ. |

I read once there was back then some company/club, which built such bikes (with use of parts of big manufacturers indeed), but where I have this article and in what it was, do not remember. It still is very popular, as far as I know - well at least in Poland. For example 2010 world champion and vice champion are from here. -- Last edit: 2011-03-19 00:20:46 |
