19-minute film taken from BFi/British Transport Films Volume 7: The Age of the Train 2-DVD set. Probably an internal training PR film or maybe shown in schools, it's far too boring and tedious to show to a cinema audience. Which may explain why no entry on imdb, but it's a real recognised film and can be seen here if you really really like this sort of thing. Set in Teeside and N&W Yorkshire ... which is where the first train line was built, after a meeting in a pub in Yarm Scarborough Castle Some trains for the trainists in our flock - film is very keen on the new diesels and diesel-electrics .... (all from the first 3 minutes or so, but I got bored. Loads more in rest of film) ... and only shows the puffers as old knackered relics sadly reduced to menial work instead of former glories |
