Çagaly öý bazar (199?/200?) - late 90's-early 00's Tukmenian film. I tried to find a date of production, but there were no some useful results at all - I couldn't find a date. But it's a rare thing. I tried to find other early-independent-Turkmen films, but it was only the one I could find. YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BC0PODDcVGo&t=1722s -- Last edit: 2019-01-29 13:28:31 |

The way the camera focuses on a poster of Saparmurat Niyazov before zipping to the restaurant where the characters eat about a block away should tell you a thing or two about the personality cult in Turkmenistan at the time. -- Last edit: 2020-01-18 21:57:37 |

The earliest this can be is 2000 as the "Saglyk yoly" (health path) shown in the film was opened January 2, 2000: https://turkmenportal.com/tm/catalog/762 Link to "ru.wikipedia.org") There's also a poster that reads: "XXI asyr - türkmeni altyn asyry" which apparently means "The 21st century - golden age of the Turkmens." and the Monument of Neutrality which was opened in 1998 (you thought Kim had an impressive statue? He's got nothing on this bad boy!) At 28:09 there seems to be a relatively freshly imported US spec car seen through the windscreen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfzBKcNoQIA |

Looks like I wasn't far off. Newly posted much higher quality source runs at little longer at the end, allowing us to read "Turkmentelekinofilm 2001" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrCAmcvd5v4 -- Last edit: 2021-12-17 14:57:52 |
