Some cars (the Daihatsu and the Mercedes W124) have fake Hong Kong plates, suggesting that those scenes were filmed in the mainland.

 So let me get this straight: they filmed on location in Hong Kong and China, but some Hong Kong scenes were faked in China and some Chinese scenes were faked in Hong Kong?...
