 Filmed in Sakhalin, which was one of the reasons I did this movie - another was the hilariously faked US scenes. :D

 Ah, no wonder, they shot at it and it began misfiring.

The movie was still sponsored by the Coast Guard as their logo appears at the very beginning (with a "200 Years of Service" subtitle, suggesting a July 1990 filming date)

 Yeah, mostly instant poverty, starvation, growing crime level, antirussian propaganda in media, depression, dirty streets, lame music, tasteless movies. Communism falls years before that, nobody did cares about. Few decades after Khrushov people just pretends that they believe in socialistic ideas, but it was just formalism. Early 90's its rather economy shock and losing usual order of things. Thats why some politicians still use 90's as a scarecrow to stay in charge.

 I don't really care about the content of these Soviet and post-Soviet films (except here I did) basically if it's not too close to 100 minutes and released between 1991/92-97, I'm in.

The movies from the Brezhnev, Antonov and Cherkov era I find rather boring, as the USSR was still a closed-off state at this point with no interesting vehicles - just a wall of Volgas, Moskvitches, ZILs and Ladas.
