![]() ![]() Nothing on imdb and no info anywhere else, not even BFI or National Archives entry, and nowt on youtube. Featured in full length (20 minutes) on this 2007 compilation DVD "On The Beat - The British Policeman 1900-1984", which in turn was reissued by Atlas Editions a couple of years ago as a free gift for subscribers to their "Best of British Police Cars" partwork mail order series of Vanguards-based 1:43 diecasts. Very mundane film, a lot of focus on how the police are trained, plus school classroom scenes where PC Plod explains to the kids what it's like being a policeman and what they do - probably produced as a recruitment film for schools/colleges/careers services - any other audience would fall asleep after the first few minutes. Filmed in central and south Birmingham - various bits I recognise of the now demolished Bull Ring shopping centre, plus the A34 Stratford Rd in Shirley and the start of the M42. The puzzling thing for me is that I've seen the sequences of the red "stolen" Cortina and its chase by the Maestro and then the 2 Range Rovers before, and recently enough to recognise it. We don't seem to have entries for any of those cars, so I guess it was from something shown on TV - maybe one of those BFI-sourced compilations on BBC2 or BBC4?? Whatever it was, this film is the original source - apart from anything else it's an 84 film and one of the Range Rovers has an 84 plate. Computer ![]() |

How can something with a car chase involving a Maestro be mundane? |

Rejects: 1974-76 Renault 17 S2 ![]() ![]() Red Ambassador ![]() Red Solaras ![]() ![]() ![]() I thought this was probably a crew car, but only the first shot has extra front light so 2 different cars. However 2nd one during motorway set-piece would be a crew car. Camera is static in middle of carriageway, so road closed (or not yet opened). |
