Not the EU Referendum !
A shiny bright future of shipbuilding, glass making , heavy engineering , Vaux Beers and bananas in pounds and ounce for the 1973 FA cup winners.
Or maybe not.

We, here are witnessing the demolition of the main works of what had been the town’s largest industrial employer, which is causing dismay amongst many who worked there. A landmark of the town, it was once visible to all who travelled by train up the West Coast Main Line to Scotland or Northern England. The supporting industries such as manufacturers of abrasive wheels and materials have gone, the other non-related businesses have also suffered as things change.

I fear the demise of the local brewery, despite my best efforts to keep it going.

You have obviously not heard the commitment made recently concerning this plant.

I did.
Nothing substantial. Just based on government-given subventions.

Any business based on tax-based subventions, is a walking dead.

China is buying up much of Africa, that will be the future location of Nissan plants - if the Chinese succeed.

And, if Nissan do it, so will all the others.

Costs of running and buying a new Mercédès are now becoming so high that I am looking around for something else. My annual service is going to cost £550 next week, I had to have an argument to arrive at that figure, the car has done 3,000 miles in the last year. If I am thinking that way, so must be many other people. The car also needs at least two new tyres, at about £190 each, as the back wheels are nearly at 2mm tread depth.

Mercédès Electric £65k
Kia Electric <£40k

Tesla Model 3 is also under 40K.
I usually DIY and order the parts at Amazon Deutschland. Liqui Moly oil and various Bosch filters. Full service for less than €100.

On the other hand, BMW i8 is nice too, if your budget allows for it.

Warranty considerations prevent diy servicing up to 3 years old, I am now becoming so decrepit that I don’t even start, plus the fact that I have zero knowledge of post 1980 cars. I would not even consider a BMW, wrong image altogether. (For me and my family.)
