17 minute straightforward remake of original Night Mail film, now based on a journey from Euston to Aberdeen. Taken from the 2007 BFI re-issue of Night Mail on DVD ... but not on other reissues such as those by GPO/BBC. Can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fylS9u_njNQ . The way the film is presented suggests there was a Spotlight series of topics, but no mention on imdb page. Rejects in opening London scenes Van; taxi; Henlys van. If same Henlys they did coachbuilt Bentleys, had a spectacular 1930s showroom (from /movie_2365114-Roadways.html ) and were a big Jag dealer much later. Engines: lots of continuity goofs at Euston as they get the loco ready and hook it up to depart. Starts off as this one (which might be 46210 then becomes 6207 then 46210 (again) then flips and becomes 46106 Then at Crewe (10-50) becomes 6234 Duchess of Abercorn (a village in West Lothian but a Dukedom created in Ireland). I know they had to change engines a few times on this run so not necessarily a full goof, until the flipping trickery starts again with 46211 after which I gave up trying to keep .. um .... track. |
