"Toomelah used to be a mission for aboriginal Australians. In the far north of New South Wales on the border of Queensland, it was too far away to attract any attention from the state capital, Sydney.... Vivid portrait of the isolation and hopelessness of a forgotten section of society where the residents live in dilapidated trailers and squalor." - seen through the eyes of a 10 year old. Also apparently where the director, Ivan Sen (Mystery Road, Goldstone etc) was brought up, so has a personal resonance for him which is evident in the way the film depicts the place and its characters. Some beautiful photography, but concentrating on people instead of the panoramic landscapes he emphasises in other films. A bleak film about wasted lives, but its sympathy makes it memorable. Have tried some of the Queensland plates against this site, but no results. Presumably either the cars are now dead (which is easy to believe in most cases) and removed from the database, or plates are faked. Rejects: - a white thing in early scene which I can't link to anything else - wrecks Lights for rjluna |

It's a Ford Falcon, either EF or EL. They looks almost identical from the back. |
