Great find - thoroughly enjoyed following it on youtube clips (1-8) despite lack of sound on half of them. Some great lines about 1970 general election and whether Britain should join the Common Market - whatever happened to that idea?? It probably seemed a good thing in those long-ago days ![]() @ingo - after prologue in Florence, it basically becomes a journey from Preston (Lancashire) across to Whitby. It underplays many locations, but seems to take a logical route northeastwards into Yorkshire Dales (Settle/Malham area) then a definite location at Linton (near Grassington, N of Skipton), Fountains abbey, Masham, Rievaulx abbey to finish in Staithes and Whitby. |

Am guessing with these but think there's probably some use of Rievaulx village and/or Helmsley for minor scenes, and the Italian POW camp may be Eden camp near Malton (but only if Eden was completely unrestored in 1994 film date; if it's not Eden it's a similar abandoned site with lots of then-intact huts). |
