The original, filmed in Berlin in 1931. Excellent quality for its time, but a bit frustrating now - lots of stuff which is too blurry/grainy/background to capture in a useful state for IDs. Lots of Merc longnose 6-wheel buses for instance, plus millions of assorted taxis and other cars/vans. Lots of taxis in various roles in the film, so have captured them as much as possible, but likely to be several duplicates. I know nowt about 1930 German stuff, so comments definitely welcome. New UK release on DVD in 2013, so if anyone else with local knowledge gets hold of a copy, you might find more stuff which deserves captures. Poignant comment that this film launched so many child actor careers, but they were cut short by being killed fighting on WW2 frontline. Various pictures, including a few of the millions of trams: (Emil's village not identified, but when he gets on the train, the station has Neustadt nameboards, but it's a common name...) Also lots of train footage for folk who like German choo-choos. Plane for impdb - has Lufthansa script on engine cover in 4th thumb: |

Been searching for the "70 years later" version from 2001 for ages. |

The place name Neustadt (= 'Newtown') indeed was chosen by the author because of its replaceability. Scenes were taken in and around Werder upon Havel near Berlin. |

The plane is probably a Junkers F13. |
