![]() "Still Life is a poignant, quixotic tale of life, love and the afterlife. Meticulous and organised to the point of obsession, John May is a council worker charged with finding the next of kin of those who have died alone." Very unusual and subtle film which builds its power slowly, but stays in the mind for a long time afterwards. Some similarities to the excellent Japanese film Okuribito (AKA Departures) for themes around what happens when people die and the hidden jobs people have in relation to funerals, and its mood but it isalso a complete film in its own right. Recommended for anyone who likes off-field stories beautifully explored. Rejects 1] very late Escort Estate with lots of bits (alloys, roof bars, fogs - but not tints) in long scene at kennels ![]() ![]() ![]() 2] scooters outside prison ![]() Traffic lights (London) for rjluna ![]() ![]() ![]() |
