France was a French transatlantic liner (1912-1935).

Several ships were christened France through the 19th and 20th centuries.
On 1912, a battle ship and two liners were sailing with this name ! The oldest one (the 'other' liner) was constructed in 1896 and was shelled by SM U-38 o7 November 1915. There were no casualties but she sank quickly.
The battle ship was on duty during World War One. Nothing special until 1919 when the ship was in the Black Sea supporting White Russian armies. A mutiny occured when orders came to shell Bolcheviks troops. In 1922, the battle ship sank after having struck an uncharted rock near Quiberon (Brittany, France).

Considering the ill-fated France transatlantic liner of the 1960s (due to the oil crisis), this

is a brilliant exception ! :D
