![]() ![]() Series filmed in Brussels, funny to see familiar places in a series. Thanks to Neon for the tip about the series! I'll add pictures of the other episodes in the next weeks. From ep 1.01: ![]() In background, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_of_the_Sacred_Heart,_Brussels Scene filmed from there: Link to "maps.google.com" But as it is a few km away, it is not very visible on Google Street View Closer: Link to "maps.google.com" ![]() Law Courts See /vehicle.php?id=667955#Comment1518504 ![]() Nice office view. As there aren't many skyscrapers, as long as you are a few levels height (either in one of the few skycrapers, or in a building on a naturally higher area) you can easily have a view of the whole city. |

ep 1.03:![]() Scene on rue Picard Link to "maps.google.com" About 1km from where I live ![]() The next scenes are set in Thurn & Taxis Link to "maps.google.com" /vehicle.php?id=672794 /vehicle.php?id=672797 /vehicle.php?id=667936 Location info: FR: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tours_et_Taxis NL: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thurn_en_Taxis_%28Brussel%29 Used for customs, until the European market made these obsolete. Now it is used for cultural events. And a part of it will be used for new buildings as it is a gigantic unused area in the middle of the city: Link to "maps.google.com" -- Last edit: 2014-02-03 17:18:09 |

ep 1.05:![]() Reminds me the Drogenbos power station, but I do not see where the water splits in "Y" like that, location to be found then. ![]() Location: place Laneau Link to "maps.google.com" Very close to where I live, funny to see that in the series. This café is where we do the annual meetings of the apartment owners of my building. |

Excellent series - I followed it through to the end. Just to go off-piste for a moment [i] about halfway through I realised our hero was spending a long time being tailed by various nasty people, but also lots of times when no-one was tailing him and the various nasty people were desperate to know where he was. Given all the resources the nasty people had, why not just fit a tracker to his car when they were watching it parked? [ii] are events dating back to WW2 still so much part of the Belgian consciousness that it is credible to build a plot from such a source? Obviously UK wartime experience was very different from occupation, but as these episodes unfolded, I sat here thinking that a UK political thriller at this level of state machinations would have to work really hard to make a plausible plot base in events of 70 years ago. The Cold War is probably as far back into history as we'd manage. |

Season 1 completed. It seems that a new season is coming for 2015. I hope it will still be filmed in Brussels. |
