Basically two movies in one. One, with Russell Crowe, is really good. The other, with Amanda Seyfried as his grown-up daughter turned an apparent nymphomaniac and the world's least believable social worker, is unwatchable, made doubly worse by the syrupy finale. Why can't we ever get a finale where the wronged lover not only goes away but actually has the decency to stay there?

Anyway, the original pics had the appearance of a 16:9 HD. If legitimate, then it has to be one of the worst pan&scan hackjobs I've ever seen. Personally, however, I suspect the pics were simply cropped from the original 2.40:1 HD. You are free to draw your own conclusions:
