OMG. I remember sequence with helicopters. They was armed with something disguised as miniguns, but barrels weren't rotate. And looks like that they use scale models in free fall as stunt doubles for falling choppers. |

Some of the aircraft shots must have been filmed in a scrapyard. The helicopters are parked so close together that their rotors would smash into each other if they took off, and so much paint has come off one of the Hueys that you can see the bare metal body and yellow primer paint on the side door. BTW, this was a USSR-Vietnam co-production. -- Last edit: 2011-08-19 10:48:33 |

So, aircraft/weapon props once were belong to ARVN? |
◊ 2011-08-19 13:05 |
@Nightrider, yes. And i don't think they use scale models for Hueys or jets, seems they did drop them from "flying cranes". @Gag Halfrunt, right scrapyard. Its not surpose to be airbase, just background for P.O.W's. This movie isn't masterpiece, but as antidote after Rambo II, Green berets and Deer hunter is OK. |

Well, as I'm a pessimistic bastard, I would rather say, that our filmmakers can be equally stupid. Even back in the days. |
◊ 2011-08-19 13:53 |
BTW, does any of us want to add "Обитаемый остров"? ) |
◊ 2011-08-19 14:08 |
I hoped that Dick do "Ostrov" someday. And yes 1985 was already bad period for our cinematography. Anachronic cars, from late 70's. -- Last edit: 2011-08-19 14:42:15 |

I think I have second part (with tanks) somewhere, but I'm still afraid to watch it again.) |
◊ 2011-08-19 15:10 |
Maybe "Obitaemyy ostrov" not too bad... Just cheap effects, bad music, ugly or poor actors, bad script... |
◊ 2011-08-19 15:13 |
...and overall waste of perfectly good book. But I wouldn't say that effects was bad, just poor applied. |

OK Nightrider, lets talk about it http://forum.imcdb.org/forum_topic-6547-43210.html |

I'm going to see "Kin-Dza-Dza" tonight. It's part of the "Kosmos: A Soviet Space Odyssey" season at the BFI: Link to "www.bfi.org.uk" I've already been to see /movie.php?id=69293 and /movie.php?id=80010 ![]() |

Nice choice, Gag Halfrunt, i hope it's translated well. |

I was tempted to let "Koo!" be my review. ![]() |

Yeah, bit too long. I think they said that they gonna make 2 episodes movie to get more film from studio, its common deal in SU (as putting in the script scenes with animals or kids, which allways difficult to make from one take). Yes, some things about main characters can get better people like them. |
◊ 2011-08-21 19:06 |
I think that Gag was talking about Kin-dza-Dza... |
◊ 2011-08-21 19:28 |
Me too. I didn't expect he would watch "Koordinaty". I'm not even recomend it. |
◊ 2011-08-21 21:32 |
If someone added Kin-Dza-Dza, we wouldn't have this problem. There is one real Earth-bound vehicle that plays rather a significant role. ![]() |
◊ 2011-08-21 21:39 |
I think that we had it here... BTW, movie was dubbed or subtitled? |
◊ 2011-08-21 21:43 |
Oh, we do. Koo! /vehicle_81956-VTZ-T-25-A-1973.html The print they used said it was subtitled by Sovfilmexport in 1987. The picture quality was a bit kyoo. ![]() -- Last edit: 2011-08-21 21:49:44 |
