8 part rural police series with all the usual cliches - fractured family, rebellious teenager, locals are all eccentric and/or weird, deeply buried family secrets, a plot which flings too much into the pot and has clunky soap-opera tendencies, and so on. But it trundles along agreeably, memorably rescued by the stunning scenery (around Jamieson in Victoria) and superb cinematography, with vivid and pin sharp landscapes and compositions. The first few eps are a visual treat, but then it begins to lose the magic. Frustrating that there are lots of clear plates but none of them work on the various check sites for Victoria. Which means either everything has fakes (apart from the Peugeot which worked fine) or I'm not doing it right. Rejects: - boyracer Volvo in file photos in eps 1 & 6 - ep6 random passing breakdown truck with what looks like a derelict Jag Mk2 - ep7 Melbourne(?) motorway |

^ I can live without them - there's a few other 1s I didn't pursue as not seen well enough. However the black 4 door pickup with box on the back seemed to pop up a few times as street furniture (unless there's a few similar things in the mix) particularly on the main street around the police station - see for instance 3rd thumb on 2021 Kluger page. I'm not going to pursue, but happy if you can give solid ID and want to add it. There's a scene in ep7 of the Melbourne hospital from across the street where a blurry silver/grey estate flashes by, which on first shot I thought was Saab 9-5 estate, but it's not - just a sleek Land-Rovery thing, maybe a Disco Sport. |
