For impdb: In this film the 5 stars go to the main plane, a DC-3 of an unknown airline for me. From the interior I would say that it is a fake interior, as it seems to me very wide for a DC-3: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() a World War II aircraft: ![]() ![]() ![]() other aircraft : ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2024-11-01 20:09:40 |

The DC-3 interior is definitely a set. Inside a real DC-3 the aisle is only wide enough for one person. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:PP-ANU_(aircraft)_5.jpg |

INTERESTING... I didn't know there was a DC-3 with 4 seats in each row. |

That's because North Japan Airline didn't survive past the 1960s... They were merged in to what would become Toa Domestic, which became Japan Air System before merging with JAL in 2004. |

So it existed. I thought it was a made-up airline like in Airport movies. There are several references to Kita Airlines and North Japan in the film. |

Aircraft at: Link to "www.impdb.org" In a strange coincidence, the main aircraft here ended up being involved in an actual shooter situation 18 years later, though perpetrated by the pilot instead of a passenger. Was interesting to learn about its history, thanks for the great pics Gongora! -- Last edit: 2025-01-25 04:35:04 |

As most cabin aircraft seen in movies ... Set or sometimes instructional airframe (used by flight attendant school and airlines for emergency training). As Corkeyandpals explains at IMPDB, this Douglas was built as a DST, the DC-3 intended for transcontinental flights with (only) 14-16 sleeping berths. But in 1942, she was modified... Not enough to widen the fuselage to this extent ![]() |
