Not sure what the category should be on this one. It wasn't really a TV series or TV miniseries, they were episodes shown during movie previews, so they're not quite movies either. There were two sets of them, 15 made in 1948 and another 15 made in 1950. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman_(serial)) -- Last edit: 2023-03-31 21:32:25 |

I feel that it qualifies as a mini-series since they were episodes that were shown once a week and had no second "season", so to speak. I made those same points for another film serial on this site. Plus, this website calls them "Mini-Series", not "TV Mini-Series", so I think that designation fits film serials as well, since they would be considered theatrical mini-series' nowadays. With 15 episodes mostly set inside a city, this promises to be a Herculean undertaking. |

1950 series was called Atom Man vs. Superman, should they be two entries? @GodzillaFan54, your next project? |

Yes, they should be two separate entries. The way the site has them set-up (both serials as seasons in one TV show) is not at all an accurate representation of the two serials as they were not shown on TV and, as I've pointed out, are more qualified to be designated as Mini-Series, as film serials are essentially theatrical mini-series'. While yes, they may have very likely been broadcast on television at SOME point between the 1940s and now, they were originally released to theaters in weekly installments. And since serials were typically only one "season", I would list them as a Mini-Series, since film serials are predecessors to those, having started in the 1910s, decades before TV broadcasting became regular in the mid-'40s. |
