Wasn't there a train in the movie? |

The locomotive is a Pennsylvania Railroad 4-4-4-4. Computer generated, of course. I think they were all scrapped in the '50s. -Dave |

I might be wrong, but from what I've seen there seems to be a small glitch in the movie - the children apparently arrive at Meryl Streep's in a dark bluish 1940s car (visible to the left of the screen for a moment) rather than the Tatra... |

One of the fire trucks that arrived on the scene was a Ford Thames Trader with no roof. |

The guy who directed this must have being smoking some really weird stuff. Steam powered locomotives co-existing with walkie-talkies and with a car made in 1971? An open-reel tape player integrated in the hood of a 1971 car? I understand they wanted to give the film a "timeless" look, but it ended up looking silly (as if they were using whatever stuff was around at the time, without minding if they looked out of time) On an unrelated note, how did these guys managed to get their hands on a Tatra? I thought these cars were given only to communist government officials and never sold. Anyway, i gotta give it to them for picking weird cars to match the film's style. -- Last edit: 2011-11-08 15:25:21 |

I have always believed (and still do) that this movie takes place in the 1960s (because there is not a lot of stuff any newer than 1960s) where it takes place is what confused me more, because nearly every thing about it looks like England or France, but there is an American train. |

There are other cars in this movie, including a 1951 Ford Consul MK1, an unknown police car, a 1955 Ford COE fire truck, a Seagrave fire truck, a Mack L series fire truck, and a Boyertown step van in the far background during one of the scenes with the Tatra 603. |

Poe didn't drive them there. They took a taxi. |

They were exported to foreign countries, albeit in relatively low numbers. |
