That's a name I haven't heard in a long time. The last time I did, she was slightly older than I am now. |

She got burned by the music industry before with creepy producers who wanted her to be their sex toy. So now she's back on her own terms. |

So that's why they didn't hire her to write a vulgar yet empowering song for the credits of Barbie even though she would have been the perfect choice. |

A sex toy? There's no nudity. It's more like she made a huge amount of money and didn't want to release anything. |

Unfortunately, that is not what happened. She had an exclusive contract with music producer Dr. Luke for five albums. After the first two albums, she sued Dr. Luke for sexual, physical and emotional abuse in 2014. She claimed that he raped her twice. He denied the allegations and claimed that she was trying to extort him to get out of her contract. So Kesha was legally tied up to this contract. They finally settled the lawsuit last year. She released her fifth album of that contract this year. This song is her first independent release, post Kemosabe Records. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kesha_v._Dr._Luke |

Tik Tok has 700 million plus views on Youtube. Are you saying she didn't get any of that income? |

No saying that she didn't, the question was why we have not heard from her in a long while, and her career has been held up in litigation for 10 years now. I see she is listed in the songwriting credits for all her songs, which is good for her because she does earn royalties. It probably kept her afloat for these 10 years. But she did not sit back and walk away from the music industry because she made her money, she was literally prevented from releasing new music until her lawsuit was settled. Other artists are not so lucky and do not earn those songwriting royalties, so they are forced to endure predatory contracts (Think TLC) and have to put up with music producers who are sexual predators. |
