and very handsome (and for once, rather sentimental) Sterling Hayden as the insurance guy, a duet of cops lead by Art Smith, Harold Vermilyea as the phony psychiatrist, Alan Napier as the decaying English writer, and for his sexy wife,

Crime story made film noir, a bit clumsy, a tad talkative, but very pleasant all in all. Is it me or has this film fallen into oblivion?

Un film noir de facture assez hétéroclite, mais tout à fait plaisant à suivre. Sterling Hayden est très beau mais assez maladroit dans son jeu — et son rôle n'est pas très bien écrit — et c'est finalement, plus encore que Dorothy Lamour, Dan Duryea qui ramasse la mise. Il fait un méchant parfaitement abject.
