![]() In the movie they go to the fictional Grand Prix of Portofino, but the pictures seem to be taken during a GP on the circuit of Pescara. In a very short sequence you can see the the corresponding scoreboard: ![]() The XVI event took place in 1947 and was called Coppa Acerbo: http://www.ultimateracinghistory.com/racelist.php?year=1947 But there are also race pictures from other events, I guess. Just wondering if there is footage from a Montlhéry event as well - eg /vehicle_710747.html which has a very wide apron in view and maybe a concrete track. I can't get a good match for buildings to confirm, but this 1936 film looks worth considering - Link to "www.britishpathe.com" . Perhaps other wide apron/concrete track possibilities could be Monza or Avus (which might fit a German film quite well). Pescara seems to had normal width apron/track - Link to "myautoworld.com" -- Last edit: 2014-06-03 17:04:09 |

Try Googling Autodrome de Linas-Montlhery and look at the stills, might be of help. Also try Autodromo di Ospedaletti, although, the more I look at it the less convinced I am that it's the San Remo. Link to "www.telegraph.co.uk" Look at what Moss drove into 5th place! It had, inter alia, steering from a Standard Vanguard, and he said he hated the whole thing. -- Last edit: 2014-06-03 17:50:32 |

.... very confusing - they're all talking foreign so I've no idea what's going on. But from the final few minutes, I think the film footage with actors is staged with sports racers - eg the Veritas - but then mixed with stock footage of F1 race which seems to be Pescara 1951 as various identifications. But the quick footage at 1-29-30 for /vehicle_710747.html and /vehicle_710748.html looks as if it's Monza 1951 from this entry list for #16 and #32. |

I think easier in this case to cross reference cars from the 49-51 era, cos there aren't many |

check the comments of remaining unknown ![]() also this is problematic, seems T11 and T15 are nearly identical, perhaps leave it just Simca Gordini or model say T-Series ? /vehicle.php?id=710750 -- Last edit: 2014-06-03 19:56:43 |
