^ Basically yes. It's very lightweight, more like an extended episode of a sit-com like Dad's Army than a real story, full of cardboard cut-out characters, pretty well every Scottish cliche you can think of apart from haggis jokes, reduces the "plot" down to a whisky addiction which affects the whole community, the shipwreck is absolute pants (low-budget CGI), and it was not even filmed on an island, despite

Locations were mostly Portsoy (Banffshire), and St Abbs (Berwickshire), with bits added from St Monans (Fife), Loch Thom (Renfrewshire), and Geilston House, Luss village hall and the Central Bar in Renton (all in Dunbartonshire) - from here.

But it has some genuinely funny moments, Eddie Izzard is quite good as a Captain Mainwaring/Arthur Lowe imitation, the scenery is well used, and the vehicles are often beautifully photographed in the landscapes. So not a disaster, but not a classic either.
