Upgraded this Spillane's classic with HD captures (original 1200 x 720) and added some more vehicles. These two, too partially seen, also are 2 -This coupe And, on the left, this dark and part seen light truck -- Last edit: 2012-04-05 18:47:54 |

Goof:Continuity I wonder what they really crashed. Obviously not the Jaguar |

You're right. Good spot indeed. I watched the movie twice and still never noticed that goof. I'd say it looks like a "modified" Triumph TR2 went down the cliff. |

Should have it's own listing, I think |

No, it's useless: the thing is just a model used as a prop for the last part of the scene. |

Not Triumph; my guess is this was some homebuilt "special" the producers got on the cheap and dressed up a little. Possibly a rebodied Crosley? |

Almost an Elva Courier, possibly a very early prototype as the idea for Elva starts back in 1953 however that's back in England. The rear fenders and rear wheel cutouts are close. http://www.viathema.com/elva/ But there is a major discrepancy with the slab sides and lack of slight cutouts in the arm areas. Odd trunk lid, tail lights, swoop under the license plate are all wrong. Also looks like Bugeye headlight cones but with an eyebrow at the top front to back. The steering wheel is a bit Crosly-like, solid, no spokes. Its like someone tried to copy an early Elva Courier. This movie had a lot of Jaguar, MG and British car influence and obviously people interested in those cars. My guess its someone's one-off attempt at an Elva Courier replica. But it was a problem when it rained. Note there appears to be no consideration for a top. I bet their enthusiasm waned and they used it up in the movie. |
