Unusual film about Falkirk singer Aiden Moffat (from Arab Strap - late 90s indie band who had occasional moments of genius but not enough of them) setting out to explore traditional Scottish pub songs and ballads and rewriting and touring them. But he meets Sheila Stewart - a 79 year old balladeer who rips his attempts apart as a travesty of their real heritage and meaning. I needed to watch the film twice before I got its power - first time didn't really click - but it is a deep careful tribute and worth giving a proper chance. Rejects - 3 orange cars (Yaris, Civic, Seat Toledo) - maybe an in-joke to capture so many?? - and a black Audi Nessie at Drumnadrochit for ingo |

Well recommended: the Ogopogo-mustard from the Okanagan! Also fantastic is the cinnamon- or blueberry honey from Keremeos Unfortunately the Canadian Post is very expensive, otherwise we would have tried to get more of it. P.S. For ILMDb: there shall be a Nessie-relative living in the volcano-lake of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paektu_Mountain But only on the Chinese side. The Northkoreans refuse its existence, because the mountain shall be reserved only for HIM: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Jong-il (but that's a lie. HIS birthplace) -- Last edit: 2017-03-01 17:34:16 |
