 Don't pay much attention to the colors of the cars. It's a movie in Black and White that has been "colorized" lately.

Yes, like archi87 said, this was colorized especially for the DVD. They also included the original black and white version, but I thought the colorized version was more interesting.

 I should also note that this movie was so poorly edited, that in many scenes, the police cars obviously change to different years/models between shots. It's quite confusing, so I'll have to watch the movie again because some of the star ratings I have given may not be correct.

 Heh, I want to see this movie. I believe they spoofed this movie (and included some clips of the movie) in the video game "Destroy All Humans".

 Here is the making of the remake of Plan 9 From Outer Space http://cinemassacre.com/2011/04/13/making-plan-9/ and by the way there is a nice shot of James Rolfe aka the Angry Vide Game Nerd in a Chevrolet Astro Van taking a shot :) :) :)
