The story of this movie is very curious. Zinnemann and Trauner were in October 1962 in Vitoria, Spain (the city where I live) and shot some scenes and took notes to recreate the city in the Paris studio. Franco did not give them permission to record due to the political nature of the film, but there are about 10 seconds, separated into 3 scenes in which Vitoria actually appears. So it is also filmed in Vitoria, Spain. |

Nice to see the city center was preserved, here most of the belle époque was destroyed by modernist architecture in the '60s. |

God, what a disaster !! How could these magnificent buildings be thrown for those so nondescript? This modern promenade could be confused with any coastal city in Spain such as Gijón ... Fortunately, Vitoria was not damaged during the civil war and with the exception of some small palace that was demolished to make such blocks, we have many centenary buildings |
