With some aircraft .... Action first set in the 1930s (?) but filmed in open 1960s street, so melting costume and car from the two eras ! I missed nearly all the vehicles arriving head-on and narrowly avoided (but the MG). |

Perils of Pauline was a silent era serial as early as 1914 that very much defined the "damsel in distress" routine. I liked the silent era version best, there's a talkie serial made around 1932/32, I only watched a few epsiodes of that because I only have a copy in bad quality and horrible sound (there was a german synchronication made in 1970, but sadly not available anywhere), and a rather lame (musical!) version made in 1947. I haven't watched this version yet, although I don't expect much fom it (despite being made in the best era for television serials). -- Last edit: 2023-12-05 11:53:44 |

This 1967 issue was nearly boring : seen after the two serials and the 1947 movie, perhaps it acted like a 'heroin overdose' ? Each work has it own thema : * 1914 : damsel in distress, a hairess facing her Machiavellian tutor; > IMCDB : /movie_4465-The-Perils-of-Pauline.html * 1933 : journey through continents (nearly no car); * 1947 : satire of such routine and loosely based on White's life; > IMCDB : /movie_39698-The-Perils-of-Pauline.html * 1967 : travel through ages About aircraft, four pages on IMPDB : (entry point) https://www.impdb.org/index.php?title=The_Perils_of_Pauline |

No Dodges? Pamela Austin was in nearly identical situations in all those "Dodge Rebellion" commercials. You'd think they were going to have some serious sponsorship in this movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGuhZMQ9STU -- Last edit: 2023-12-10 23:39:53 |
