The whole factory is "dead" for almost 20 years now. Edit: Good article about the history of Krupp's locomotive factory: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lokomotiv-_und_Waggonbaufabrik_Krupp -- Last edit: 2016-01-17 23:26:20 |

@Ingo: Didn't you live just around the corner (more or less) back then? |

yes, a bit more than 20km. But back then, when the factories and plants on the large Krupp-areal were still active, I didn't lived in that area. Due a little interest (my great-grandfather worked as a chemist for Krupp 100 years ago, but noone else of my family, although they are located in Essen for centuries) I read some books about Krupp, but my knowledge is not really big. Today nearly nothing is left over from the large Krupp-area. One hall (but according Wiki not the hall, visible in this "Tatort") is now the IKEA-parking garage http://structurae.de/bauwerke/ikea-parkhaus and on the other side of the Altendorfer Straße is one building left over, where inside is nowadays a musical theatre and this Mongolian buffet-restaurant http://www.mongos.de/de/restaurant/essen.php All other Krupp-buildings are demolished since years. There are a plenty of shopping-houses and other companies there, so this large furniture-shop http://www.xxxlshop.de/filiale/xxxl-kroeger-essen/RE and the largest Mercedes-dealership in the Ruhr-area* http://www.lueg.de/Centerseiten/Center-Essen-/0_476.html *@the Mercedes-fans here: in 1987 Mercedes Lueg had an own special model, for their 125th anniversary, a 300 TD 4matic [W124] with the whole extra option-collection. The price was 96.000 D-Mark (49.000 €) - at the same time my grandfather bought a 200 automatic [W124] for not even 20.000€. |

Thanks for your answer! I had already heard about this dealership before, but I didn't know they have a wiki-article, too: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrzeug-Werke_Lueg |

Today I learned that Samuel Fuller directed an episode of Tatort (this one). Link to "bbs.boingboing.net" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069349/trivia?ref_=tt_ql_trv_1 |
