The title of the movie:![]() A Hui brothers' film, in which a lot of common Hong Kong vehicles in 1970s included. (e.g. Nissan Echo, Datsun taxi, Leyland FG, and VW Typ 1 & Typ 2). Also Mercedes-Benz and Porsche inside. (Originally there's a BMW car, but it's too blurry, so I ignore it.) -- Last edit: 2013-08-22 19:45:59 |

More serious in Hong Kong movies, because Hong Kong people always sneer VW Beetles! -- Last edit: 2013-08-22 19:46:26 |

are there any remnants of the largely British car influence in HongKong by now? Or has everything pretty much been turned into Toyota's? ![]() -- Last edit: 2013-08-23 04:48:54 |

@Q-Ball: you mean "Hongkong" instead of "China", or? |

There're a lot of British vehlcles in 1970s Hong Kong. Because of the decline of British car industry since 1980s, the number of British vehicles in Hong Kong decreases year by year. Nowadays only double-decker buses are British products! Also Hong Kong people only like Japanese goods (I'm the special one, because I prefer Mercedes-Benz & BMW ![]() ![]() Except Toyota, only Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi and Daihatsu can attract Hong Kong people! ![]() This is the example. Hong Kong people don't like this, so less than 10 were sold in Hong Kong: /vehicle_620249-Ford-Falcon-AU.html -- Last edit: 2013-08-23 06:10:16 |

I guess, many Hong Kong people prefer Mercedes-Benz and BMW too, but that luxury cars are expensive. (In /movie_1503079-Sui-yuet-fung-wan.html, Mercedes-Benz users are rich characters.) -- Last edit: 2013-08-23 10:24:19 |

This film is a good reference: /movie_100045-Long-Feng-cha-lou.html All Mercedes-Benz were for the managers, and the BMW were for the gangsters! |

My Japanese friend Hiroshi told me, that over there the common Yakuza-cars are black Benzes with dark windows, usually with many "8" on the plate. |

![]() This is my photo of a car-yard in Hong Kong. You can see almost all of the cars are Japanese! |

It's actually a car market. You can see a lot of Japanese cars. Some are new, directly imported from Japan by the market. Hong Kong has a lot of people doing jobs to purchase vehicles from Japan! |

@boys bible: yes, I know, that this pic is from an used car dealer. My question is about the situation on junkyards/auto wreckers. -- Last edit: 2013-08-24 18:54:29 |

I do nothing on the yard, just pass-by. And it's not a junkyard. It's for selling new car & second-hand cars. I only show a car-dealer yard of Hong Kong: the aim is very simple. -- Last edit: 2013-08-24 19:00:18 |

@boys bible: I know, this this location is an used car dealer. Maybe I shall ask more precisely: how is the situation at those junkyards/car wreckers in Hongkong, you maybe know? |

Situation? Usually they sell Japanese car components. ![]() Basically they will purchase car components from Japan. These components are supplied to the garage of Hong Kong. And some of the components are from the junkyard of Japan, and some from the Japan plants. Some car dealers will also import the whole cars from Japan plants directly. Among these, there are some models only available in Japan, e.g. Honda Mobilio: /vehicle_404665-Honda-Mobilio-2002.html & Toyota Porte: /vehicle_244593-Toyota-Porte-NP1-2005.html . -- Last edit: 2013-08-25 05:37:49 |

Thai people too, due to built-in-Thailand cars are cheaper price (I don't think it is inexpensive or cheap), and there are high import tariffs. |
