![]() ![]() TV biopic about the rise and fall of comedy duo Abbott & Costello, with Bud Abbot played by Harvey Korman and Lou Costello played by Buddy Hackett. It details their start in burlesque, rise to doing revue shows and movies, and even dips into Lou tragically losing his infant son. Buddy Hackett, despite being known as a clown, shows real emotion when the movie calls for it. This film is more about Lou than Bud and depicts Lou as a complete asshole in the last third of the movie. Further driving home that this is pretty much The Lou Costello Show is that the film ends pretty much immediately after Abbot is told Lou died. Buddy Hackett later disowned this movie and it's portrayal of Lou in the forward to Lou's On First, a biography of Lou Costello written by his own daughter who was incensed by her late father's portrayal in the film. Over 20 years before this movie, Buddy Hackett actually took over a role that had been slated for Lou in the 1955 comedy, Fireman Save My Child. Set from the 1930s to March 3rd, 1959.
