8-part series set in and around ... um ..... Dublin, but filmed in Northern Ireland and full of faked "Irish" plates. Set mainly in 2006 with some flashbacks to mid-80s. Fairly formulaic oddball-detective-duo-with-complicated-secrets-investigate-mysterious-murders-in-tight-communities series with most of the usual genre cliches piled into the mix - the only one they missed out was turning one of the detectives into a single parent of a rebellious teenager. A bit of a rambling storyline which tried to cram too much into it so some plotlines dropped off without being resolved, and it had the usual complete failure when an archaeological dig is part of the plot to portray it convincingly or to integrate the dig process to inform the police investigation. However it had an excellent cast, some very good scenes (particularly for secondary characters as well as the stars), and good cinematography. So it was worth following through to the end to see how these tortured souls resolved their overloaded situations. This is not a total trawl of everything in every episode due to technical hiccups, so very little 1 background stuff captured, but all the main vehicles used by characters (2 and above) should be caught. Most of the rest of 1 was ordinary porridge, but some construction diggers and a fair few emergency vehicles if anyone wants to get their hands dirty. A couple of "2006" backgrounds probably containing newer things: -- Last edit: 2019-11-13 01:27:38 |

Some scenes were really filmed in Dublin. Link to "www.thelocationguide.com" -- Last edit: 2019-11-12 20:16:15 |

The problem is, it was adapted from two separate books in a series from the same author, and the articulation between the two main plot lines in the script was IMHO a bit clunky. Maybe two series of six episodes (or even four, as in 'Guilt' currently on BBC2) would have been a better choice. -- Last edit: 2019-11-13 13:36:47 |
