 Background, yellow Renault 12 is in one scene (on the bridge). Maybe interesting, because probably made in Turkey.

 Made in Malta (the Turkish government wouldn't let them film in Turkey). Some of the "Turkish" dialogue is actually Maltese!

Indeed, but at the beginning there are some shots of real Istanbul locations (including the bridge), which were filmed without official permission.
