Final part of Bill Douglas trilogy after My Childhood and My Ain Folk. Film starts in Newcraighall (mining village near Edinburgh) roughly where MAF finished then jumps a few years to early 50s for National Service in Egypt - as the lead actor visibly grows up, it looks as if sequences were filmed during the 6 year gap between the 2 films being released, not just in 77/78. Not as grimly miserable as its two predecessors - although a long way from being cheerful - and a better more mature film as a result. But it won't make much sense unless you've endured the first two parts first. Plane in Egypt, possibly landing at RAF base |

I thought it looked interesting. No other view - it just flies away into the distance, getting smaller as it goes. |
