not really, that was most often to see in the 70s, those cars used to be carried with so much baggage when they goes to vacation |

Back then, in the times, where every car had a real gutter, you could use one roof rack for a plenty of cars. Today you have to by a specific rack for ever car. And back then the higher fuel consumption due these racks wasn't a reason for discussing.
