yes, but it was never really popular.

 It was not sold in Italy but there were many registered as "AFI" (American Forces in Italy) owned by US Army Officer serving in Italy at the time. I clearly remember one in Catania I often used ro meet that was in a strange hue of blue, quite similar to that of the Citroën Dyane visible in one of the first thumbs here. It was a '73 and brand new at the time.
In that city (as in Naples, Vicenza, Verona and other) there were many because of the nearby US base in Sigonella.
Anyway rare in Italy and therefore worth listing.
