![]() I thought this was a great film when it came out, but now badly dated. Very cliched story, and tokenistic social comment about 1980 Britain and its problems - unemployment, power cuts, race riots etc. But the music's still good - Hazel O'Connor wrote some cracking tunes. Although my favourite of hers was not in the film - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i91gNrB6seQ - rumour has it the Stranglers actually played as her session band for the recording. And while googling H O'C info for interest, I discovered that when she toured to promote the Breaking Glass album in 1980-81, she gave the execrable Duran Duran their first big break by having them as support. If only she'd chosen someone else ... Interesting bedside lamp ![]() ... and an unexpected credit ![]() |
