8-episode series which started very slowly - so slowly I gave up on it, but then gave it another go. One of those grand epic stories which eventually became something spectacular - episode 1.05 one of the best concentrated bits of TV I've seen for a long time, and I was surprised to discover that Richard Gere can actually act. But then it fell away, too many unnecessary sub-plots crammed together, and it felt as if they ran out of ideas for how to resolve them, so the end was a messy puddle of nothing much.
