humungus ◊ 2023-10-28 11:38	“You're a has-been training for a never-was.” I find it mildly amusing that back in the day the most fearsome people in Hollywood weren't the assorted male chauvinist pigs running the studios but Louella Parsons and Hedda Hopper, two women for whom the c-word likely would've been invented if it hadn't been already. In addition to their notorious gossip columns in which they made and killed careers with single sentences they also ran an equally notorious feud which this movie aims to show how it came to. Alas, despite Elizabeth Taylor having a field day as the loathsome Parsons it does so most unmemorably with little of the two ladies' vitriol in evidence and hardly any quotable line to be heard. Set between 1928 and 1944, the movie does have a nice assortment of vintage vehicles that one day we'll hopefully be able to enjoy in HD.
