Welsh language comedy/drama, also known as Coming Up Roses in English. A very briefly passing Leyland-National of National Welsh: -- Last edit: 2012-12-29 23:54:24 |

@kudos - how/where did you come across this? It's a brilliant film and I've been trying to find it for years. |

I came across this whilst browsing on YouTube, it is available to watch in four parts in Welsh, with English subtitles. Thanks chico for enabling me to find this film again - it is a wonderful gentle comedy set in Aberdare, S Wales after the local Rex cinema closed in 1983 and how the community respond. Filmed in the cinema, which was the focus for failed efforts to revive it before demolition in 1990 (though film is a different story) - http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/30314 , http://cinemawales.homestead.com/aberdareone.html ; its organ was salvaged and restored in Somerset http://www.poppyrecords.co.uk/compton/ . Film has some atmospheric footage at start of other derelict S Wales cinemas, and is a tribute to a vanished era. Highly recommended for anyone who can track a full copy down - the youtube extracts only give a shortened version which lose a lot of the flavour. Romantic meal All pictures replaced from a full copy and one entry added for the Ford D-series. Some slight glimpses of other vehicles - there's an Avenger at one point - and a few vans but they're all too background or part obscured. No better captures possible for kudos of the Leyland National. -- Last edit: 2013-05-02 17:34:37 |

Cheers, nice to see some better captures for this. I don't recall seeing the D-Series in the shortened version, was it only shown in the full version? |
