 I just loked up Katie Fforde on Wikipedia and learned that she is British and sets all her novels in Britain. Does anyone know why the German adaptations move them to the US?

Good point. I could never find an official explanation for this, but I suppose it could be because they already film Rosamunde Pilcher movies in UK :think:
