A lot of "Western" cars in this film. When did cars from outside the Soviet bloc become widespread in Czechoslovakia? |

of course widespread after 1989, but some can be seen in the 80s as well... The story is set in the environment of people which could afford such cars before 1989, therefor there is so many western cars.. |

@Gag: as we had discussed about it somewhere here before: Czechoslovakia belonged with Hungary and Poland to the Eastern Bloc-countries, where it was easier to get a Western car as a private person. In the Soviet Union and the GDR it was usually impossible. btw.: recently I've read in a classic car magazine, that for the Chrysler 180 and 2 litre Czechoslovakia was the biggest export-market after the BeNeLux-countries. In CS were more 180 sold than in Western Germany. So today the (very few, less than a dozen) German Chrysler 180-fans are going to Slovakia and the Czech Republic to find spare parts and meet friends with the same hobby. -- Last edit: 2009-02-16 07:56:47 |
