2008 German made-for-TV disaster movie about the sinking of the MV Wilhem Gustloff, which was carrying over 9'000 refugees and troops across the Baltic Sea when a Soviet submarine detected the ship's spotlight and fired three torpedos, hitting the Gustloff on the port side. The three impacts caused the ship to suddenly list dramatically after lifeboats had already been lowered on the starboard side swung into the side of the boat with such force they were smashed and the occupants were dumped into the Baltic Sea. One lifeboat met a predicament that fell upon several others; the ropes had frozen to the lifeboat, putting it danger of the sinking Gustloff dragging it down, however a small boy's pocketknife allowed the ropes to be cut, saving the lifeboat and it's 70 occupants. The sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff killed over 9'400 of the 10'600 onboard, over six times the number of those who died on the Titanic, making it the single deadliest maritime disaster in history.

The Crimson Ocean is listed as the Canadian title here and on imdb, though it's actually the English-language title of the film.

That's the first time I've heard a Junkers Ju-52 being likened to a Ford Trimotor  Never struck me how similar they would be if their wing placement was the same.
