Sv. Dvasios street in Vilnius, LT in the background of the main picture, so it's likely two different SAAB's were used in the movie : one in Finland, another one in Lithuania. Or perhaps they just transported it over to Vilnius from Finland? -- Last edit: 2022-12-16 14:22:05 |

Pre-1987 bumpers though. |

The SAAB decoder returns an error for the 7th digit Anyway, J[10] = MY 1988, and 7[11] = built by Valmet in Finland. Maybe a replaced bumper then? Or rather a non-orginal plate? |

Not the first time we've had problems with Finnish/Estonian SAAB 900 police cars: /vehicle.php?id=54295 I wonder if there's an explanation to why their VINs don't seem to match the overall appearance of the car. Perhaps leftover stock branded as 1988 and 1989? |

Lithuania never had SAAB 900s as police cars, in case you want to follow that lead. They preferred Volvos, S70s, 400 series and even 700 series Their independence present was in June 1990 a set of brand new VW Jetta CLs: Link to "www.retromobile.lt" https://kauno.diena.lt/sites/default/files/nuotrauka_3_37.jpg Link to "media.lrytas.lt" and at least one Ford Scorpio: https://liucijus.lt/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/0119-35-mm-events.jpg |

It's not just the bumper, it's the pre-1987 facelift. (headlamps, indicators, grille and bumper) |

VTO422 is part of the stock here https://www.mil-safarit.com/palvelut/rekvisiitta https://www.mil-safarit.com/sites/default/files/2021-03/30_0.jpg Mil-safarit Oy, Metsolantie 55, 07170 Pornainen Y-tunnus: 2403623-5 mika(AT)mil-safarit.com +358 50 375 0859 so not a fake plate for the movie. But I don't have an explanation yet for the 1988 VIN. |

More Finnish police Saabs that ignored the 1987 facelift: EJU112 https://poliisimuseo.fi/en/image-bank 1988 SJX141 Link to "i1302.photobucket.com" 1989 Much later than consumer cars. And no turbo or injection but the old carburetor engine. "Moottorikoodi B201C". |

Wow! Nice find! |

Could be that Saab kept a production of the older model specifically for police use also after the facelift? I know Alfa Romeo did something similar with the 155: in 1995, when the model was facelifted, the cars for the Italian police and Carabinieri kept most exterior features of the pre-facelift model, built on the wider body of the MY 1995, including the Alfa Romeo DOHC engines, which had been replaced for the civilan models in 1996 with the new Fiat-derived units |

There are Finnish Saab forums that will have the answer but it's not so easy to search them. |

^^ You can’t make springs out of cast iron, you make springs out of spring steel. Cast iron does not bend, if you try to bend it, it snaps. Whoever said that the springs were actual cast iron was either joking or stupid. -- Last edit: 2022-12-18 19:49:51 |

I think this deserves 'Made for SF' tag, if this situation was unique to the Finnish-built models. |

Yes, perfect use of Made for SF. |
