Notice, this one is a bit incomplete. Seems something happend to the rear. The fender is still waiting for the new paint and there is no rear bumper (at least the left part of it). |

Information, just in case someone would be curious why there are (since today) much more Wartburgs with "312" model name on the site and why they are strange 312s with 311 codes. In 1962 the so called Wartburg "1000" (992 ccm) was introduced, but 1st it was named and badged "Wartburg 312". The car was still of the type 311, the engine was type 312 (there was later another 312 which meant whole car with new chassis, but it is less important now). So it was named "Wartburg 312" for a short while and soon was renamed and rebadged to "Wartburg 1000". The oldest "Wartburgs 1000" on the site are listed as 1963, because only for 1963 some more noticeable changes in the look of the car were introduced. In other words, it seems to be imopossible to distinguish the 1962 312 ("1000") from 1961 car with older/smaller engine (except if the rear badge is very well visible). Now magazine "Automobilista" 7/2021 suggests that Wartburgs Campings and Coupes were imported to Poland since 1962, so in this case I assume they had already modified engine and decided to make them "312". -- Last edit: 2021-07-10 23:22:58 |
