1987 Caprice Classic Sport Coupe? It has to be a 1987 since that was the last year for the coupes. |

Nice, I've never even seen a 1987 coupe, or a 1986 for that matter. Only 1977-85 models. The coupe versions are very rare, they sold something like 1 to 10 verses the sedan. |

Is the extra information I previously mentioned correct? |

I will check my 1986 Chevrolet Caprice factory brochure, but not until tomorrow as I am quite tired now. |

The front end are interchangeable between 1980/85 and 1986/90. So it is very possible the front end has been swapped out and painted. |

Yes, but what makes you think that this car has the front swapped out? Although I must admit that your comment made me notice that there doesn't seem to be a third brake light, which first came with 1986 models. |

Hmmm.... that's possible, in fact come to think of it there wasn't even a coupe model in 1987. |

Of course there was, just do a google check for "1987 Chevrolet Caprice Coupe." |

When rjluna2 said they were interchangeable, he possiblly meant that they are a relatively easy swap for someone who is mechanically adept. Perhaps all the mounting/screw holes line up for all those model years. -- Last edit: 2009-08-08 04:09:36 |

You are quite correct, jettalover. That goes with Ford Crown Victoria with old style front end with new taillight. I have seen 1969 Chevrolet Impala with 1970 front end (Or was it the other way around). I have seen City of Atlanta Police car with 1993/96 Ford Crown Victoria with 1992 front end. /vehicle_4972-Ford-Mustang-1971.html /vehicle_238481-Ford-F-250.html -- Last edit: 2009-08-08 04:21:49 |

Oh I know exactly what rjluna2 meant. In fact, I even think it's a possibility (but to be honest, I find it unlikely). My comments were in response to taxiguy's statement, which stated that there was no coupe model in 1987. |

I did saw 1987/90 Chevrolet Caprice coupe passed by me at the street today. However, there were at least two or three different colors at the front/rear end along with fender and door. This sighting only last 2 to 3 seconds before it disappeared. Perhaps it could be cobbled up also ![]() |

There was a 1987 Chevrolet Caprice coupe, there's no doubt about that. All along I've really only been asking if the trim name has been correct. And the car you would have seen would have had to have been a 1987 model as it was the last year for the coupe (as I've stated already). I take it you didn't see the tailights? |
◊ 2009-08-12 02:06 |
Yes, I have. Indeed it has 1986/90 version, however I missed if it has third taillight ![]() It is hard to see the car from A to Z within 2 to 3 second window frame. I had to look at those key spot within limited amount of time frame. -- Last edit: 2009-08-12 02:08:33 |

'87 was the last year for the caprice coupes but only a few thousand were made. Stereotypical granny mobile back when they were new, but nowdays they are rare. I'd love to find one. |

It went by so fast ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-08-12 02:14:37 |

It probably was the real deal then. They may be rare but not impossibly hard to find. Just look at taxiguy's flickr account, he's always finding old and rare cars ![]() |
