I would assume that they belonged to a company that supplied action vehicles for films. There's one called Nine Nine Cars which was founded in 1951: http://www.nineninecars.com/about.html (Dixon of Dock Green was the first British police series. In Britain the emergency telephone number is 999, hence the name Nine Nine.) |
