Yea, but the Chevy was shit. The Tempo was the sex. |
◊ 2007-02-07 05:10 |
Uh...pardon? ![]() |
explorer4x4 ◊ 2007-02-07 05:10 |
The Hunny-Wagon of all cars. Hot babes follow you everywhere when you have a Tempo. |
◊ 2007-02-07 05:54 |
If that's the truth, then it looks like I need to move to Alaska. |
◊ 2007-02-07 08:25 |
so you tell me, that i don't buy a Ferrari or A Jag or even A Aston...no Buy A Tempo....I Don't believe anything of this shit. My Aston Martin Works fine with the lady's.......hahahahah |
explorer4x4 ◊ 2007-02-07 15:40 |
Aston Martins, BMW's and damn near all European cars are only driven by old (60+) snobs. Buy a Tempo and all your dreams become reality. Not with pos Aston Martins. |

says the 15-yo with out a drivers license |
◊ 2007-02-07 19:28 |
I hope Explorer's kidding. BTW the Celebrity would beat the Tempo in a drag for sure |
◊ 2007-02-07 20:00 |
i thought Celebrity went against the Taurus. |
explorer4x4 ◊ 2007-02-07 20:26 |
It would fall apart 1 foot off the line (Celebrity). |
◊ 2007-02-08 00:39 |
Buy a Tempo and all your Nightmares will come true, is more like it… ![]() |
◊ 2007-02-08 00:44 |
There must be something, err, strange and unusual about the Tempo, because the ladies weren't charmed by my Escort (a 7/8th scale Tempo) until I got them in it (and even then, it was just because of the pimptastic motorized seatbelts). |
◊ 2007-02-08 00:51 |
So would the Tempo… Neither car would finish the drag-race. ![]() |
◊ 2007-02-08 01:13 |
Sounds like a spongebob snail race. ![]() -- Last edit: 2007-02-08 01:13:35 |

I dont think I've EVER seen the words Celebrity, Tempo and Drag Race in the same sentence before, and I have decades of Drag Racing experience to fall back on....sort of reminds me of Military intelligence.....mutually exclusive |

By the way, Explorer- I found a bunch of Tempo and Topaz magazine ads from 1984-86 that I'd think you may be interested in. Would you like me to make scans of them to post on the forum? |
◊ 2007-02-08 08:24 |
Aston Martin can be younger people also.....instead of 60+... |
◊ 2007-02-08 08:33 |

It is wrong to pretend that hot babes follow your Tempo when you do not even have a license to drive it outside the garden ![]() |
◊ 2007-02-08 11:11 |
I May Drive Not On The road much....but whit my house in the garden....In my street i dont have andy 'Hot Babes' Only A Woman And She is ugly and old....(She is a Real 85+, But she drives stil in a Nice Mercedes Benz, From her Deadth Husband.....) |

That First One............ |
explorer4x4 ◊ 2007-02-08 16:16 |
That would be awsome! |
◊ 2007-02-09 06:46 |
It was more of a joke than anything else but up in Northeast Pennsylvania we race anything with a motor and wheels, although I guess road race would qualify better than drag race. Either way, I'm mostly a GM man and beside a few select Fords (read my profile) I'd take a Chevy any day. |

Believe it or not for an 80's midsize with a 125hp V6 the Celeb has some power. My friend has an 87 and it does some pretty good burn outs. I'm not saying it's a Corvette or anything but it even surprised me. |
explorer4x4 ◊ 2007-02-09 16:43 |
1992 Ford Tempo GLS or 1992-1994 Tempo LX/GL have 3.0L Vulcan V6 engines that are ten horses stronger at 135HP. |
◊ 2007-02-09 16:46 |
The number of hp does not do everything. Except that fact that the weight of the car and the gear box configuration do a lot, depending at how many rpm you have the maximal power a car with more hp can actually seem slower than the one that has less hp. |
◊ 2007-02-09 17:35 |
You are quite correct antp, With a high gear ratio a cars top speed is generally limited by the RPM the motor can take but it can accelerate rapidly - good for drag racing. With a low gear ratio the top speed is generally limited by wind/tire resistance but it accelerates more slowly - good for maximum top speed. And of course the weight:hp ratio is important in both cases. The number of gear ratios that a production car has is a tradeoff between intended use, performance and cost. The more ratios that are available means that the car can more easily acheive both good acceleration and good top speed. |

Besides, the Tempo may have more horsepower, but the Celebrity has more torque, so in the end, it's probably a bit of a draw. |
◊ 2007-02-10 01:13 |
125 hp in a mid size car? One squeek is probably more like it. |
◊ 2007-02-10 01:31 |
www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2006_03/008518.php search page for 'tempo', read second item found ![]() |
◊ 2007-02-11 04:21 |
I'm not saying there was a cloud of smoke but all things considered it was alot more that one squeak. My 88hp Escort even got out more than that |
◊ 2008-07-04 20:20 |
In my highschool days a 4 cylinder wagon beat my friends tempo. tempos don't even exist anymore cause ford's don't last. ever see a tempo with 285,000 miles all original. |
◊ 2012-09-12 16:06 |
Even though this car was totally unreliable, I would still buy one because I love the way it looks. |
